ROBERT WOOD JOHNSON FOUNDATION - HEALTHY KIDS-HEALTHY COMMUNITIES

Grant amount: $360,000

The Center for Health and Social Issues was the lead agency as Live Healthy Baldwin was established to engage in childhood obesity prevention. Received $360,000 to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic through policy and environmental change strategies aimed at increasing opportunities for physical activity and access to healthy, affordable food for those at greatest risk for obesity. 540 communities applied and 49 were selected including Milledgeville/Baldwin County and Cook County in Georgia.

HEALTHCARE GEORGIA FOUNDATION – CHILDHOOD OBESITY PREVENTION PROJECT (COPP)

The Center for Health and Social Issues and Live Healthy Baldwin received $400,000 to engage in policy, systems and environmental change strategies to make it easier for people to be physically active. 10 communities were invited to apply and 4 were selected (Cobb County; Cook County; Milledgeville/Baldwin County; Savannah)

GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION – TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT GRANT

The Oconee River Greenway Authority received $1,000,000 for Phase 3 of the Oconee River Greenway. Phase 3 involves paving and/or constructing 2.5 miles of the Fishing Creek Community Trail from the Greenway to Central City Park.

Georgia Department of Transportation – Safe Routes to Schools Program

Grant amount: $1, 200,000

On behalf of Baldwin County Schools. Received $1,200,000 to build 1.2 miles of sidewalks/multi-use trails and a bicycle/pedestrian bridge on the Baldwin County School campus.

KNIGHT FOUNDATION COMMUNITY GRANT

Grant amount: $13, 350

With the Milledgeville Community Garden Association. Received $13,350 to build a community garden and 0.25 mile walking trail in Harrisburg, and underserved Milledgeville community which led to many other community improvements.

GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES – RECREATIONAL TRAILS PROGRAM

With the Oconee River Greenway Authority. Received $100,000 to complete 0.5 miles of Fishing Creek Community Trail from Greenway to Elbert Street

JOSEPH D. GREENE COMMUNITY COLLABORATIVE AWARD

In 2018, Live Healthy Baldwin received the Joseph D. Greene Community Collaborative Award from the Healthcare Georgia Foundation at the 2018 Connections Conference in Atlanta.

ALL-STAR COMMUNITY AWARD – INAUGURAL HEALTHY GEORGIA AWARDS

In 2016, Live Healthy Baldwin received the All-Star Community Award presented by Lt. Governor Casey Cagle of Georgia Shape, and Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Health at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.

NEW YORK LIFE HIGHER EDUCATION CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AWARD

In 2014, Georgia College was one of 5 recipients of the New York Life/Washington Center Civic Engagement Award. The work of Live Healthy Baldwin was featured in the application.
